On-Campus Education |
Foothills Academy is a part of the Clinton County Schools We are staffed with 4 certified core content teachers, 2 certified exceptional education teachers, 2 classified staff, and a certified Principal. Each day the students will take four core classes and two elective classes.
We have one vocational classroom that offers an exploratory program in carpentry and building trades. Individualized graduation and learning plans (ILP’s) are incorporated to fit each student to ensure they are prepared for graduation and subsequent work and college. Foothills Academy works diligently to improve basic skills in reading and math, as well as supplement students’ state academic requirements with electives such as foreign languages, carpentry, life skills, etc. At Foothills Academy, we use Apex Learning that comprises standards-based instructional content specifically developed for online delivery, with assessment opportunities integrated throughout, scaffolding to support learning for all students, and resources to support effective teaching. The program affords the opportunity for course offerings that covers the complete spectrum from remediation to honors courses in all subject areas. |
Our program is aligned with Kentucky’s Core Content. In all classes, students take diagnostic tests at beginning of units, so that teachers have a better understanding of what students already know and what deficiencies need focused on. This curriculum provides teachers the ability to work one-on-one with students daily and to more rapidly bring students to grade level knowledge.
Foothills Academy has a Credit Recovery program resulting in excellent success with academic improvement. This allows students to reach their appropriate grade level, complete graduation, obtain their GED or begin college classes. Various assessments such as ACT, ASVAB and COMPASS testing opportunities are provided. Career options and transitions skills are also emphasized throughout the curriculum and ILP’s. Foothills Academy residents also take monthly school field trips to broaden their horizons.
The mission of Clinton County Schools for Foothills Academy is to enable all students to reach their highest level of academic performance with the skills necessary to become lifelong learners and responsible, self-sufficient members of society through responsibility, respect, effort, and a positive attitude.
